Law Society Endorse The Association of British Investigators
SRA Code of Conduct 2011, Para's O (1.2) and IB (4.3)
The two paragraphs referred to above require solicitors to:
• Provide services to clients in a manner which protects their interests in their matter, and
• Outsource services only when they are satisfied that the provider has taken all appropriate steps to ensure that clients' confidential information will be protected.
What you may not know is that owing to the steps taken by the Association of British Investigators to vet its members, to include CRB checks and rigorous complaints and disciplinary procedures, the Law Society of England and Wales and the Law Society of Scotland each exclusively endorse for use by its own members, The Association of British Investigators, recognising the extent that the ABI has gone to protect their solicitor members' clients.
Mark Hodgson, Karl Brooker and Jason Bytheway of TREMARK Associates offer our litigation, process serving, tracing, surveillance and investigation services as members of The Association of British Investigators, which acts as a one stop shop for due diligence when a legal firm has a need to hire a Professional Investigator.
All new applicants for ABI membership are called for interview*, have to provide proof of their identity, provide professional references which are verified, are required to sit an examination to test their competence, have to adhere to a strict code of ethics and professional standards. Their business is also required to hold it's own policies of Professional Indemnity Insurance and to register with the Information Commissioners office and to notify that office as data controllers of the reasons for which they hold personal data. No other proffesional association for investigators in the private sector offers this level of security and accountability, which I am sure you will feel are essential following the recent phone hacking and blagging of personal data scandal.
